The Birthday Book Page 22 by SalHunter The Birthday Book Page 22 by SalHunter
(???)

In 2009, I was given a little drawing book for my birthday ... it's a spiral bound sketch book with a pretty cover. Not something I would buy for myself ... but a welcome gift none the less. I decided to fill it with little sketches and drawings as a stream of consciousness.

This is page 22 ... HB and 2B pencil ... about 7 cms by 14 cms ... 14 days. umm ... the usual organic mess I think!

Thanks Deborah ... in the book this image is paired with the text below ... might explain this one a bit

Such high hopes at first
Unravelling in each phase;
Lost in translation.

Each drawing begins with such high hopes, but each drawing becomes just a shadow of its original potential as errors and unintended things creep in.

We often have great expectations and most of the time we are disappointed; things rarely work out the way we want them to. Is it our fault for being unrealistic or does the fault lie elsewhere when our expectations are not met?

Disappointments lie
In great expectations
Beyond our control.

Very nice this one.....listening at this moment to music by Shpongle...together with these words from :icongerbutal: "subconscious thoughts bubbling through a preconscious sieve into consciousness"...turns all in a wonderful mix. A birthday to remember......:sun:

No reference pics used at all ... these things are glorified doodles that come from somewhere within!

I think they're all kind of biological because I'm a biological scientist ... but then I've always been fascinated by microscopy from when I got my first microscope at the age of ten.

beautiful ! maybe it's the edge of the preconscious buffer zone . it would make a good visual metaphor ; subconscious thoughts bubbling through a preconscious sieve into consciousness .
